Carroll James Hill

COLONIE, NY – Carroll James "CJ" Hill, 91, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010. Born on July 2, 1919 in Kingston, NY he was the son of the late Charles James and Inez (Sweet) Hill. Carroll was raised in Middletown Springs, VT and was a longtime resident of Rutland, VT. Mr. Hill was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired from Montgomery Wards after a thirty year career. In addition to his parents, Carroll was predeceased by his ex- wife, Rena (Bursey) Hill, and his sister, Lois Thurlow. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Kay Hill, and the couple lived in Florida and Cambridge, NY before returning to Colonie. He is the father of Robert (Barbara) Hill of Clifton Park, Pamela (Daniel) Rourk of Latham, David (Nina Riccio) Hill of Fairfield, CT and Julie (David) Blumkin of Delmar. Carroll also leaves his step-daughters, Michele (Arnis) Zilgme of Colonie and Gail (Kurt) Moore of Boca Raton, FL. Also surviving are many grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one step-grandson. Carroll's family would like to thank the staff at Albany County Nursing Home for the kindness and care they gave him during his stay.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY (for research), Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 4, Suite 405, Washington Avenue Ext., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Carroll J. Hill.
