Casper J. Rozniewski

April 28, 1935 — November 28, 2022

Casper (Cass) Rozniewski, aka, Sonny Ross of Schenectady, NY, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022. Born on April 28, 1935, in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Casper and Eleanor Rozniewski.

Cass attended St. Joseph's High School, and graduated from Albany Business College. In high school, he was featured in a local newspaper after setting a record when he scored fifty points in just one basketball game! He was very athletic and competitive. He continued to play basketball into his 30's, as well as softball and bowling, all of which he enjoyed while raising a family of three beautiful daughters.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and received numerous medals. In 1997, Cass retired as Plant Manager from the Sun Oil Company in Rensselaer. After which, he became an avid golfer and he had two holes in one! He enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle, and loved Polka music and dancing, and he was a member of the Polish Community Center where he volunteered at bingo for several years. He and his wife Elaine went to Polka dances almost every weekend. They enjoyed many Polka weekends in the Catskills, in Wildwood, NJ, Ocean City, MD and in Connecticut. In 1995, their love of Polka took them to the sea, and they traveled on their first cruise, a Polka Cruise to Bermuda! Together, they continued to travel and enjoyed several tours to Hawaii, Alaska, Wyoming, and California, as well as several cruises. In 2010, they took a Carnival Cruise to Mexico and ended up stranded in the Pacific for several days!

Cass and Elaine were married for sixty years, and recently celebrated their Diamond Anniversary at The Pinnacle, their retirement home in Latham, surrounded by family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife Elaine of 60 years, and their children Deborah Rozniewski, Regina Brownell, Cynthia (Charles) Scheffer; grandchildren; Nicholas, Jessica, and Anna Brownwell; his brother William Rozniewski, and sister Patricia Tasso; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Cass is predeceased by his sisters Lorraine Cheetham and Eleanor Brown.
