LATHAM – Catherine A. (Panetta) Burke, 86, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 5, 2011 after over a thirty year courageous battle with cancer. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Mary Panetta. She lived in Latham for most of her life where she raised her loving family. She loved traveling, dancing, and going to the theater and the opera. Kay worked in many capacities in the family's restaurant, Panetta's, in Menands. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. Kay loved spending time with her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Andrews (Andriano), William Duffy and James Burke. Kay is the devoted mother of Salvatore Andriano of Latham, Joseph (Gail) Andriano of Lafayette, LA, Dominic (Nancy) Andriano of Colonie, Susan (David) Keville of Malta and Elaine (Michael) Pierce of Colonie. She is the loving sister of Anna Zumbo, Rosemary Daly, Charles Panetta, Marian Neil and the late Joseph Panetta. Kay is the cherished grandmother of Joseph and Jennifer Andriano and Katrina and Jessica Keville. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of New York Oncology Hematology in Latham and Community Hospice of Albany for the care and compassion they gave to Kay during her illness.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham at 10:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. At the request of the family, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 13535, Albany, NY 12212 in memory of Catherine A. Burke.
