Catherine Ann (Kitty) Di Cesare passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Beverwyck Green Houses in Slingerlands, NY surrounded by her family. Kitty was born on May 5, 1932 in Carbondale, PA and spent most of her adult life in New Windsor, NY. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Turpack , and was the youngest of eight children. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Alfred C. Di Cesare, her son Stephen P. Di Cesare and his wife Donna, her daughter Kathleen D. Boyd and her husband Peter, and her grandchildren Theresa Lewis (husband Justin), Nicole Di Cesare, and Matthew and Alexander Boyd.
Kitty was high school co-valedictorian at Newburgh Free Academy and, after raising her son and daughter, received her teaching degree at Mt. Saint Marys college and her Masters degree at SUNY New Paltz. She taught elementary school at New Windsor School for twenty years.
Kitty had a great singing voice and sang radio commercial jingles when she was a young woman. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved working on puzzles with her grandchildren and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's baseball fan. Kitty was an excellent cook and enjoyed collecting sand dollars on the beach in Florida and visiting her vacation home in Willsboro, NY.
Kitty and Alfred moved to the Capital District of New York in 2005 to live at Avila in Albany , where they had a wonderful group of friends that became known as the dirty dozen. She followed by residing at the Eddy facilities at the Terraces in Niskayuna, Hawthorne Ridge in East Greenbush, and Beverwyck in Slingerlands.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Eddy Village Green, Beverwyck for all of their care and compassion given to Kitty.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Canon funeral home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Roman Catholic mass and burial will take place at Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, NY on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor, NY.
