Catherine E. Hennessey

Watervliet- Catherine E. Hennessey, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024 with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Willard and Shirley Johnson. Catherine was the devoted wife to the late Robert W. Hennessey. They were married 50 years. 

Catherine worked as a Social Welfare Examiner for Albany County until her retirement.

Catherine enjoyed spending time with her loving family and enjoyed supporting her family and friends at their events as well as going to the casino. 

Catherine is survived by her lifelong friend of 40 years, Mary O'Brien; her children, Helen (Lori Dudek) Hennessey, Bobbie-Jo (Julie) Edwards, Elaine (Tiffany) Houlihan; her goddaughter, April (Ronald) Anderson; grandchildren, Catherine, Kelly, Johnny, Robert, Aaliyah, Eva, Alessia, Cullen, and Hunter; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Especial acknowledgement to Wanda Evans, Jamie Winnie, and Bobby Winnie. 

In addition to her husband and parents, Catherine is predeceased by her daughter Tammy Hennessey; and two great granddaughters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Albany Medical Centers Medical ICU, especially Doctor Sunny Dharia who provided kind and compassionate care to Cathy and her family. 

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Catherine's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis,TN 38105.
