Catherine R. Orsini

ALTAMONT, NY – Catherine R. "Kay" Orsini, 85, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009, after a long illness. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Slachtovsky. Kay was a resident of Altamont for most of her life. She worked for New York State Dept. of Taxation & Finance from where she retired. Mrs. Orsini was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary in Guilderland. She enjoyed flower gardening and especially loved spending time with her family. Kay was the beloved wife of the late Millard Orsini. She is the devoted mother of Lori Layton, Terri (Michael) Cuomo, Daniel (Nancie) Orsini and William Orsini. She is the loving sister of Mildred Aulicino, William Slac and the late John Slac, Anne Kimball, Sophie Slac and Mary Faraone. Kay is the cherished grandmother of Cheryl (Kevin), Angela (Jerry), Justin, Brittany, Lexi, Carly, Zachary, Philip, Briana and Jacob. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Lindsey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, Guilderland. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). The parish family of Christ the King will gather at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Altamont. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY, 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany, NY 12206 in memory of Catherine R. Orsini.
