Catherine Smith

Catherine Dorsett Smith, 60, passed away peacefully after a three year battle of ovarian cancer on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peters, surrounded by her loving family. Cathy was a caring and loving person to everyone around her. She was born and raised in Albany, NY. Cathy was employed with New York State, Taxation and Finance. She retired after over 36 years of service. During her 36 years of employment she also worked at the Glenmont Wal-Mart for several years.
Cathy is survived by her mother Danila Dorsett; her father, Karl Dorsett, Sr.; her sister Alice Dorsett; her brother Karl Dorsett, Jr.; her daughter Alicia Smith and her two grandchildren, Mariah Catherine and Alexander John.
Funeral services will be Monday at 7pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the privacy of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road Loudonville, NY 12211 or to Community Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany NY 12205 in Catherine's memory.
