Catherine (Rand) Turner of Albany, NY was born in Lexington, Mississippi to the late George Rand, Sr. and Annie Rand.

Catherine, wife and mother of five, loved the Lord, reading the Bible quoting scriptures, singing “Yes Jesus Loves Me,” and daily prayers. Catherine was employed by Roxy Cleaners, State University of Albany, Capital District OTB, as well as manager of the family owned business, Turner’s Variety Store on Green Street.

Catherine is predeceased by her parents, George Rand, Sr. and Annie Rand; sister, Clara McDowell; brothers, George Rand, Jr. and John (JD) Rand and son James Turner, Jr.

Catherine leaves to cherish her loving memory, her devoted, love of her life, husband of 68 years, James Turner, Sr.; children, Debra Turner, Doris (Eriel) Walker, Thomas (Diane) Turner, Daniel (Sunsiray) Turner; brother, Samuel (SD) Rand; nephews, Wallace, Charles, Leanard and Paul McDowell; grandchildren, Keyshon Brown, Aaron Turner, Bianca Ansari, Takira (Larsell) Stovall, Daniel (Chelsea) Turner, Jr., Cheyney Turner, Brandon Jones, Byron Turner, Dynesha Walker and Kyliere Walker; great grandchildren, Kyliek Brown, Keymoni Brown, Kyshon Brown, Keyarie Brown, Kayson Williams, Kairo Gainor, Legend Stovall, A’Mora Stovall, Elijah Greene and Levi Turner. Catherine is also survived by a host of cousins, relatives and close friends.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, 2150 Central Ave, Schenectady, NY.
