On Thursday, February 17, 2022, Catherine Lee Ann Williams (Cathy), loving wife of Regina M. Perry, passed away peacefully at the age of 61 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, NY after a 5-year battle with leiomyosarcoma. Cathy was born on August 5, 1960, in Oneonta, NY to Roger Williams and Catherine (Kay) Saur Williams. Cathy attended St. Paul's Roman Catholic School through 1975 and graduated from Norwich High School in Norwich, NY in 1978. She earned a BA in History with a minor in English and Religion from The College of St. Rose in 1982. During her junior and senior year, Cathy worked in the school library which led to her desire to become a librarian. Cathy received a Master's in Library and Informational Science from the State University of New York at Albany in 1988. Her 1982 marriage to David Laube ended in divorce. Cathy married Regina M. Perry, on May 3, 2019. Cathy lived in New Berlin, NY until the age of 6 when she and her family moved to Norwich, NY. Cathy also resided in Delmar and Troy, NY and was a resident of Guilderland, NY at the time of her death.
Cathy's first job was with Pizza Hut in Norwich, NY. She also worked at Victory Markets in the payroll department during the summers in college. After graduating, she worked at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the admissions office which led to a position in the school's library. After RPI, Cathy worked at Sienna College and Skidmore College as a reference librarian. In May of 1995, she began her career with the United States Post Office until her retirement in November 2020.
Cathy was an avid reader and enjoyed studying British History and Eastern Philosophy and Religion, line dancing, yoga and Kirtan chanting. She was proud of the fact that she was one of the founders of the girls bowling team, as well as a member of the Drama Club, French Club, Honor society and Project Advance at Norwich High School. Cathy loved mermaids and the beach. She was an active member of the Unity of Albany Church.
Cathy's mother, Kay and brother Tim passed away prior to Cathy's death as well as both her maternal and paternal grandparents. Cathy is survived by her wife, Regina M. Perry, father, Roger Williams of Leesburg, FL, sister, Susan and her husband Stan Remson and their daughters, Kristie (Michael) Depasquale and their children Matthew and Bella, Marissa (Bryant), Sandy and Julie. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Catherine Williams and her children, Elizabeth Williams, and her children Liam, Raury and Cialan, Jonathan (Krista) Williams and their children Genevieve and Jacob, Catherine (Joel) Vibbert and their children, Aubrii, Fynlee and Spencer. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Marie (John) Zeaser and their children, Regan, Lilly and Danny and her brother-in-law Daniel (Maureen) Perry, and their children Ryan (Rachael) and their children John and Noah, Micah (Meredith) and their son, Benjamin and Raphael, and his daughter, Brielle.
A celebration of life will take place a New Comer Funeral Home on Sunday, February, 20, 2022 from 2 PM to 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathy's name can be made to Leiomyosarcoma Direct Research, www.LMSDR.org or P.O. Box 52697, Tulsa, OK 74152.
