Cecelia Kistler Evans, 82, of Cohoes, NY, passed away on December 7th, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Cecie, as she liked to be called, was born on June 28, 1939 to Warren R. Kistler and Erma Hamm Kistler in Hazelton, PA.

Her family lived in Weatherly, PA where she graduated from High School. She attended Kutztown State Teacher's College and graduated with a degree in elementary education. She worked as a teacher for 2 years after graduating from college. She married her lifelong friend, David Evans in 1962. With Cecie as a full-time mom, they lived in several locations during their marriage including Madison WI, Niskayuna, NY and Mayfield, NY. Once her children were older, she worked for many years as a teacher's aide for Capital Region BOCES until her retirement in 1999.

She had many talents and interests. She was an accomplished pianist and often enjoyed playing by ear. Her musical skills remained in place for many years even as her physical ability declined. She enjoyed many craft projects including, sewing and knitting. Cecie was instrumental in the family's long-time association with Guiding Eyes for the Blind, fostering multiple puppies and giving them basic training to be seeing eye dogs. She also founded and led a local chapter of 4-H. She was an active member of churches including Salem UCC in Weatherly, PA; Madison Christian Community, Madison, WI; First United Methodist Church, Schenectady, NY; and Mayfied Presbyterian Church, Mayfield, NY.

Cecelia was predeceased by her husband David and is survived by son Daniel (Brenda); daughter Heidi (Cory); and grandchildren, Ellyn, Gregory, Emily, Christopher and Chase. A memorial celebration will be held at future date. Memorial gifts may be made in Cecie's name to the Michael J Fox Foundation.
