HALFMOON-Cecile Deno, 91, attained the prize of being in the presence of her Lord on April 10, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Oliver and Anna Lessard Soulier.
Cecile was a devoted wife to the late Adrian Deno. Graced with many years, her husband and two sons, Edward Deno Sr., and Frank Deno Sr., are finally joined together once more. She was dedicated to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughters in law, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and to many friends.
A survivor of the Great Depression, and a wife who waited in anticipation for her husband to return from his duty in the Pacific Theater, she lived and taught us that life is not about what we have, but whom we have.
Cecile loved to travel. She enjoyed the company of her family, whether it was fishing along the river she lived beside, swimming in the pool, or celebrating the holidays in the home that her husband had built. A table covered with homemade food and the smell of fresh baked pies will always be the defining characterization of what it means to spend the holidays together as a family. Cecile valued tradition, and those traditions have been passed down to four generations. We will honor her by sharing them with our children as a living tribute to her life.
We will miss that cooking and loving kindness. Her charity was much, and her expectations were few. A lifelong dedication to her family was the greatest example of selfless sacrifice and has taught us the greatest reward in life was serving others and comforting those in need. There was no limits to what she gave, no price we could estimate in her love.
As a family, our sorrow is great, yet we know it will be brief. As the apostle Paul has preached: "For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ." (Colossians 2:5). In that firmness we find comfort, for in time, we will all be with her again in eternal fellowship.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 2 to 4 PM at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie with a funeral service to follow at 4 PM.
Interment will be private at St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.
