Colonie- Cecilia A. Mullin passed away on April 25, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center at the age of 70. Cecilia, the daughter of Dorothy and Gennaro Variano, was born on May 29, 1947 in Manhattan, NY and grew up in Marlboro, NY. She worked as a seamstress as a young woman and made several wedding dresses. Later in life she achieved one of her life goals of returning to college, and was a magna cum laude graduate of both New Paltz State University and the College of New Rochelle. Soon after graduation she became a strong advocate for children as a school psychologist while employed at Middletown School District for ten years.
Cecilia was a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She loved with all her heart and was always there to listen and give great advice. She loved reading and would often read 5 or more books in a week. Cecilia also took many great adventures after her retirement. She traveled with her daughter to the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, where she rode a horse for the first time, and Sedona, AZ. She went to Alaska with her husband and daughter on her dream trip that will always be in our hearts and remembered. Among other trips she also accomplished a lifelong dream of traveling across country with her husband to celebrate her 70th birthday.
Cecilia will be greatly missed by her family. Cecilia is survived by her husband Francis "Bud" Mullin of Colonie, NY; daughter Patricia (Gary) Washburn and her beloved grandchildren Gary "Buddy"and Cecilia-Jane "CJ" of Colonie, NY; brother Michael (Josephine) Variano of Florida, and sister Theresa Eckhart of Marlboro, NY.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Albany Medical ICU staff, nurses and surgeons. You all helped us greatly during this difficult time.
