I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day. II Timothy 4:7-8
God saw the road for our loved one was getting rough and that the hills were too hard to climb. God gently closed her eyes and whispered, "This rose is ready." Her lowly hours, her days of pain, her ever patient mortal frame have found sweet rest at last.
Celia Joe Murray was born on June 24, 1939 to the late Lee and Lorine Keels Joe in Greeleyville, SC. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Troy Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Troy, NY. Nine siblings preceded her in death.
She received her formal education in the public school system of Williamsburg County. She was employed for many years with Seton Health and Daka Food Service.
On September 19, 1959, Celia was united in holy matrimony to the late Mack Murray. She was blessed with five children. A daughter, Denise LaJoyce Murray preceded her in death.
Loved ones remaining to cherish her precious memory are her children: Dorrian Murray-Patterson of Greeleyville, SC; Diane Murray and LaMarsha Murray of Columbia, SC; Threasa (Collin) Murray-Smith of Albany, NY; brother, Nathaniel (Carolyn) Joe of Patterson, NJ; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Collins of Patterson, NJ and Virgaree Mitchell of Bronx, NY; four sister in-laws, Lurenna Joe of Greeleyville, SC; Roxenna Joe of Titusville, FL and Sadie Joe of Branchville, SC; Betty (James) Murray of Troy, NY; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
A home going celebration will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11am, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, 12189, with Pastor Kimberly C. Hall officiating of Lords House of Deliverance Baptist Church, where calling hours will be held prior starting at 9am. Burial will follow at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
