ALBANY - Celmira Tafur, 88, died on Wednesday March 14, 2007 at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (formerly the Villa Mary Immaculate), surrounded by her loving family.
Celmira was born on July 4, 1918 in Bogotá, Colombia. She graduated from Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá, Colombia as a nurse. She came to the U.S with her sister in 1959.
She worked at St. Peter's Hospital as a nurse and volunteered as a Gray Lady for the American Red Cross.
Celmira is the beloved sister of Maria T. Pereyra of Latham and Ana Jimenez of Queens. Beloved aunt to Maria T. Ibañez, Carlos W. Pereyra, Patricia N. Alvarez, Lucia Wilson and many other nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumite Road, Loudonville. Donations may be made to St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 301 Hackett Blvd, Albany NY 12208 or to Community Hospice of Albany, 455 New Karner Rd, Albany NY 12205 in memory of Celmira Tafur.
