Chalcie D. Webster-Vogel

Colonie- Chalcie D. Webster-Vogel, 74, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on April 13, 2018. Born on December 2, 1943 in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Vera Bjork.
She married Marlyn Webster, Sr., in 1964. Together they opened their home to numerous foster children, creating relationships that lasted for years. Marlyn predeceased her in 1985. She then met and married John Vogel, they continued to open their home to foster children. Chalcie was a woman of strong faith as a former member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Colonie, Open Bible Baptist Church in Colonie and later Capital Church in Colonie. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, she was also a proud Boy Scout Den Mother. She was an avid gardener, always with an overabundance of vegetables. She enjoyed watching birds. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years John H. Vogel; her children: Marlyn (Connie) Webster, Jr. and Marlynna (Derryck) Wilson; her siblings: Gren (Melanie) Bjork and Carla (Ed) Thomas; her 5 grandchildren; her 4 great-grandchildren; foster children: Steve and Mark Ernst and Joe and Andy Freehoff; many other foster children and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is also survived by her two cats: Black Cat and Goofy.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was predeceased by her step grandson, Michael Ricci. She was also predeceased by her faithful dog, George.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, April 19 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, it was Chalcie's wish that memorial contributions be made to your local church.
