NISKAYUNA Charlene A. Parkis, 61, passed away with her family by her side on August 4, 2016.
She was born on July 17, 1955 to the late Charles Cole and Irene (Richards) Dearstyne in Brockton, MA.
Charlene retired from Albany County Nursing Home where she worked as an LPN for 17 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved life, spending time with her family, especially her 3 granddaughters, visiting her home in Florida, horseback riding, spending time at her camp in NY and playing BINGO with her friends. Char was always the first one up dancing and making those around her smile and laugh.
Charlene was a fighter, she took on every challenge with a positive attitude and was determined to live life to the fullest despite any setbacks. Her grace, kindness, devotion to her family and contagious laugh will remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know and love her forever.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, William H. Parkis, Jr., her children, Trevor Parkis, Trisha (John) Jackson; grandchildren, Katelyn Parkis, Cristina Parkis, Gabbie Jackson; siblings Walter (Sue) Cole, Wayne Cole, Dawn (Chris) Weaver, Carole (Mike) Virano, Clayton Dearstyne, James Cole; step-mother, Rusty Cole; brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith Parkis, Marcy (Mike) Hess, Amy Parkis; and several nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her son Christopher Michael Parkis.
Friends and family are invited to visit the family on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 5-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie. A memorial service to celebrate Charlene's life will begin at 7pm on Wednesday at New Comer Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
