NISKAYUNA, NY – Charles Butler Connelly, 86, of Niskayuna, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010, at home, with his beloved daughter Clare at his side. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 23, 1923 and was the son of the late Charles and Rose Connelly. Charlie was an Army Air Force veteran who served in Guam and New Guinea during World War II. He graduated from St. John's University in 1953. Charles worked for Scientific Products/Baxter from 1955 until this retirement in May, 1987. Charles was the beloved husband of 61 years to the late Ann R. Connelly. He is the devoted father of Paul Connelly and his wife, Lynda, Peter Connelly and his wife, Chantale, Michael Connelly and his wife, Deborah, and Clare Sedgwick and her husband, Al. He is the loving brother of James Connelly. Charles is the cherished grandfather of Peter-Michael, Matthew, Blair, Paula, Kaitlin, Tyler and Derek. He is the great-grandfather of Grace-Ann and Sara. Charles is the longtime friend of Jean and Joseph Walker and neighbor to the Tentor's. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Gary Kronick for his support and care. A heartfelt thank you is also extended to all the care givers for making our father's stay at home possible with a special thank you to Gail Slavin, Michelle Martin, Davy King and Ginny Scalice.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Helen's Church at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Charles B. Connelly.
