NISKAYUNA- Charles E. Butcher, 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born on August 21, 1949 in Niskayuna to the late Earl A. Butcher and the late Eleanor E. Darrow and lived his entire life in the area. He graduated from Niskayuna High School in 1967 and was an active alumni. He was a general contractor and was known as a man who could be relied on to fix anything. He was an active and avid outdoorsman enjoying both fishing and hunting. In addition to his children, he also raised a number of pets over the years. Charles greatly enjoyed telling stories and spending time with his family, especially on holidays. His favorite was always Christmas. He is survived by his lovely wife of thirty nine years, Sandra R. Redemann Butcher, their son Christopher D. Butcher, two children from his first marriage, Tara N. Genieys and Charles E. Butcher, his sisters Maureen P. Olsen and Darleen R. Pennie, his brother David A. Butcher, his grandchildren Sophia N. Butcher, Nolan R. Butcher, Finn M. Butcher and his daughter-in-law Holly P. Butcher, several nephews and a niece. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189, on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 3:00pm-6:00pm with a service to immediately follow.
