Charles R. Conover

SCOTIA - Charles R. Conover, 67, passed away peacefully on the early morning of July 13, 2021. He valiantly fought the symptoms of Huntington's Disease after a 15-year battle. He was 3 days short of celebrating his 68th birthday.

Charles is survived by his son Steven C. (Gillian) Conover, daughter Nicole (Ron) DeLorenzo, granddaughters Paige Conover, Stephanie DeLorenzo, Kayla (Brian) DeLorenzo-Bochenek; great-grandson Renly Vincent DeLorenzo, brothers Gene (Dave Spetla) Conover, Rob (Sandy) Conover, Brian (Carolee) Whitman, Mark Whitman; sisters Paula (Jim) Muncy, Kelly Pahl, Arden (Dave) Whitman Bleser, Kim Whitman, sister-in-law Rita Conover, sister-in-law Molly (Charles) Hoffman, cousins Cynthia Setchel, Lesa (Christine LeHay) Andreasen, and Diane (Paul) Pinelle. He is predeceased by parents Velma and Howard Conover, step-Mom Joan Whitman Conover, brother Christian Conover, sisters Katherine "Kaci" Conover, Corrine Conover Remedes and Francine Conover. Charles is survived by his former wife of 41 years and dear friend Cheryl (Jim Sperry) Conover; and former wife Maria (Rod) Rosate. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, whom he loved.

Charles is a graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School Class of 1971, Eagle Scout of Scotia-Glenville NY Troop 63, earned a Bachelor of Science and Math at the University of Albany, member of the First Reformed Church of Scotia, member of the Johnstown Loyal Order of the Moose and a Proctors Volunteer Usher. Charles was employed at New York State Department of Office of General Services, Albany, NY for over 34 years as a CADD Computer Design Analyst.

Charles enjoyed camping, card and board games, swimming, softball, tennis, boogie boarding and road biking. He received a Trek 1100 for his 40th birthday and he road over 5,000 miles on that bicycle. Charlie has fond memories of a trip to HI where he and Cheryl enjoyed touring 3 islands and parasailing at Ka'anapali Beach, Maui.

Charles treasured times spent with family especially times on the shores of Sacandaga Lake, NY, Nauset Beach, Orleans, MA and Wildwood Crest, NJ. He was proud that he taught his children and grandchildren how to boogie board.

Charles family would like to thank the Ellis Hospital Staff and Hospice for excellent care and support.

Private services will be handled by New Comer Funerals & Cremations, Colonie, NY.
