Charles G. Cumella fell asleep at home April 5, 2023. He fell asleep with peace in his heart and gratitude for his God on his lips. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemarie, whom he married on August 24, 1996. Chuck was born in Manhattan on August 20, 1943, the firstborn child of George and Antoinette Cumella and was raised in Queens, NY, with his brothers, Peter, George, Anthony, and sister, Julia Anne His children are Lorraine, Adrianna, George, and AnnMarie.
Chuck had a vivacious personality and a very creative mind that qualified him as a moving consultant and salesman by trade, a steadfast evangelist, and a bible teacher for his Lord Jesus Christ. His great passion and commitment were to his God and Lord. He loved to study and teach the Bible and lead people to God. He was ordained as a Christian minister on July 9, 1998, and was one of the founding elders of Living Hope Community Church in Latham, NY.
Chuck and Rose have conducted a Bible fellowship in their home every week for over 30 years. They also organized and managed a storefront city mission in downtown Albany for years. He often taught a Sunday morning Zoom with the Gaspar Garcia fellowship in Davie, Florida. Chuck had a great understanding and desire to help all people, especially those enslaved to drug addiction and alcoholism. Hence, over the years, he conducted Bible-based recovery meetings at the Capital City Rescue Mission, a halfway house he lived in and coordinated, the Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center, the Military Vet house, Uncle Sam's House, the DePaul House in Albany, and more recent years, Troy Celebrate Recovery.
Charles Cumella's never-ending positive outlook, loving concern for others, smile, laugh, and silly jokes were the manifestation of the depth of gratitude and love he had for the God who rescued him from utter desperation and hopelessness. Chuck never forgot, and we will never forget him.
