Charles S. Curcurito, 80, passed away on May 19th, at home surrounded by his loving family, after a longtime battle with bladder cancer.
He was born in Albany to the late Charles and Emily Curcurito.
Charlie was quite the character who always had a nickname for everyone he enjoyed laughing with. He will always be remembered by his fellow club members for having a special comment about their catch of the day. He was retired from the Carpenters Union and went on to retire after 20 years from the Guilderland Transportation Dept as a bus driver, a position that he thoroughly enjoyed.
Charlie, along with his friend of 70 years Joe Gibson, were founding members of The Albany Area Bassmasters Club established in 1975. He was also a lifetime member of the NYS Bass Federation. Along with fishing he enjoyed golf, playing cards and time with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sandra (Phillips), children Theresa (Brian) Gregory of Galway, Kimberly (Don) Flint of Argyle and Joseph (Laurie) of Ballston Spa, grandchildren, Elisha, Bridget, Casey, Michael, Caitlyn, Brandon and Emy, and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Edward Curcurito of Albany and Anthony (Jean) Curcurito of Selkirk. Charlie will be sadly missed by his loving companion Caidy.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday May 24th from 9:30-12:30 with a service to follow at 12:30, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie NY.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and Community Hospice of Albany.
