Charles Davis

Charles Davis of Colonie, 93, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 with his loving family in prayer. Charles was the son of his parents, Peter and Willa Davis. He was also predeceased by his brother, Joseph.
Charles was a graduate of Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. His career in hospital pharmacy began at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Brecksville, Ohio and later at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cleveland.
After 22 years of service there, he was appointed as the Director for the Department of Pharmacy at the Veterans Administration Hospital here in Albany, New York, holding this position until his retirement in 1985.
Charles then offered his years of pharmacy and hospital medical experience to, at first, a brief part-time stint in a local drug store before joining the New York State Department of Health Services, where he served the Office of Medicais Management. He retired from this position in 2003.
Charles served with the United States Army during World War II. He continued service to his country by joining the Army ROTC while at Ohio State University where he attended a commission with the rank of Second Lieutenant.
Charles later joined the United States Air Force Reserves. He was connected with the 33rd Aero-Medical Evacuation Group of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He remained with this unit until retirement in 1976 having attained the decoration with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Charles was a member and a communicant of Grace Fellowship.
Charles was the devoted husband to the late Magdalene Kennedy Davis in a marriage that endured until Magdalene's mortal death.
Charles is survived by his two sons, the elder Charles Michael, now living in Seattle,Washington and his younger son, Jon Mark of New York City; a nephew, Joseph Isa Nazeer Davis of Cleveland, Ohio; four grandchildren; Aaron Michael and Jarrett Matthew of Port Moody, British Columbia; Jahelijah Jon now living in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Ujijji Dasisi Davis-Williams now living in Detroit, Michigan; and by four great grandchildren; Kerringtyn, Brooke, Alana and Kingston Charles.
Charles or "Chuck" as he was fondly called, was an avid golfer enjoying many a sunny day on the course with his golfing buddies.
His devotion of family and to his friendships will be greatly missed. Let his life be remembered by the measures of which defined him as a kind and gentle and spiritual man.
His family and his many friends exalt his being in beloved memory.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Memory Gardens Garden Chapel, 983 Watervliet Shaker Road, Colonie, NY.
