Charles J. Donato, Sr.

Niskayuna- Charles J. Donato, Sr., 94, formerly of Haines City, FL, passed away on December 18, 2017 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. Born on October 30, 1923 in Slingerlands, NY, Charlie was the son of the late Dominick and Lucy (Ravida) Donato. Charlie served his country honorably and faithfully in the US Navy during World War II.
Charles is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary T. (Barrington-Quackenbush) Donato; his children: Edward (Breanna) Donato, Edwardine (Earl) Parshall, Bernardine Donato, Charles (Scherry) Donato, Jr.; his step-children: Kathleen (William) Woschanko, Theresa (Thomas) Stein, Patricia (Joseph) Tersigni, Mary (Thomas) Boucher, Thomas Quackenbush and Ann (James) Smith; he is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his first wife Edwardine (Grainer) Donato; his son Richard Donato; his daughter Charline Donato and 6 siblings.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 6:30 pm on Thursday, December 21 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 at the funeral home. Burial will be at 10 am on Friday, December 22 at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlie's name to a charity of one's choice.
