Charles "Bud" Figel Jr., 79, of Westerlo, entered eternal life on June 2, 2023 with his family at his side after a brief illness,
Bud was born in Albany, NY on March 29, 1944. He was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Hofmeister) Figel. Bud cherished his childhood memories of his summers at camp in Westerlo. This camp later became the home that he built with his father.
Bud had many passions, including farming and restoring classic cars. He recently restored his very first car, a 1955 Lincoln Capri. Bud was a plumbing and heating contractor for over 50 years, learning the trade from his father at 12. He was dedicated to his customers, even helping many after retirement. Bud was a hard worker with many skills and was always willing to lend a hand. Bud was kind and fun loving and developed many lifelong friendships. He was proud of his military service as an army reservist.
Bud is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanne (Porpeglia) Figel, children Lisa (Ray) Catina, Charles (Sharon) Figel III, grandchildren Charles John and Annabelle Figel, his sister Dorothy Ann and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and other medical professionals at St. Peter's Hospital and Our lady of Mercy Life Center for your expertise, dedication and kindness during this challenging journey.
A visitation will be held on Thursday June 8th from 10:30am-12:30pm with a service to follow at 12:30 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie.
