East Greenbush- Charles Giacomino, 84, died on Friday, May 27, 2005 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Albany he was the son of the late Mary (Cappellano) and Rocco Giacomino. Charles served his country in the US Army 82Nd Airborne during WWII. After returning from the war, he went on to work as a fork lift operator for BASF in Rensselaer until his retirement in the early 1980's. Charles was a well known area musician and an avid gardener. He was a member of the Melvin Roads American Legion Post # 1231 in East Greenbush. Charles is predeceased by his sister Isabelle Garramone, and his two brothers; Nicholas and Rocco Giacomino.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Marian (Maffeo) Giacomino of East Greenbush, his three daughters; Charlette Giacomino of East Greenbush, Leonora Drzymala and her husband Steven of Virginia, and Candace Anglesey and her husband John of East Greenbush. He is also survived by 5 granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, at 1:00 PM at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. The family has requested that no flowers be sent. Memorial contributions may be made to the Melvin Roads American Legion Post #1231, in memory of Charles Giacomino.
