Schenectady – Charles E. Greenwood Sr., 83, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, January 25, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, he is the son of the late Fred and Wilhelmina Bradt.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a Shop Teacher at Linton High School for more than 27 years and also worked as the Print Shop Manager at OTB for 30 years. Charles will be missed dearly by his family who adored him.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Mona Greenwood; his son, Charles (Elizabeth) Greenwood Jr.; his step-children, Kelly A. (Don Williams) Smith, Bruce E. (Amy Janetsky) Smith Jr.; his grandchildren, C.J. (Amy) Greenwood, Nicholas Armstrong, Kyle Smith, Danielle Greenwood, Alexandra Greenwood, Ian Smith and Logan Smith; his siblings, Dorothy DiCresce and Butch (Lee) Greenwood; and his great-granddaughter, Makayla Greenwood. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and dear friends.
Charles was predeceased by his daughter, Kimmarie Rose Greenwood; his brother-in-law, Richard DiCresce and four brothers.
A celebration of life for Charles will be announced at a later date by the family.
