Latham- Charles F. Hoellerer, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 with the love his life by his side, Geraldine A. Goodrich. Charles was the son of the late Frederick C. Hoellerer and Marion E. Fitzgerald and stepson of the late Raymond H. Parsells.
Charles was born in Brooklyn on February of 1928 and lived most of his adult life in Kingston before moving to the Albany area in 1983 following his retirement. He worked for the Western Electric Company for 30 plus years as a telephone central officer installer. He was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1951.
Charles was a member of the Kingston American Legion Post #150, The Colonie Elks Lodge #2192, 51st Signal Battalion Association, Berlin U.S. Military Veterans Association and was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Charles also did volunteer work for the Albany Police Athletic League.
In addition to Geraldine, Charles is survived by cousins in Brooklyn, Florida and Australia.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 19 from 9:30am-10:30am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Assumption, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110 starting at 11:00am. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
