COLONIE Charles J. Weinlein (Chuck), 85, of the Village of Colonie, died at home on Saturday, Feb 13, 2016, after a period of declining health. He was born in Albany, NY, on Nov 1, 1930, to the late Anna and Albert Weinlein of New Scotland Avenue. A veteran of the US Navy (Korea), Chuck was married for nearly 50 years to the former Marion J. MacMillen, who pre-deceased him in 2004.
His many endeavors included a Chrysler dealership, Weinlein's of Warrensburg, near Lake George, and many years in auto sales with The Armory Garage. Chuck was also an event promoter, notably bringing the Harlem Globetrotters to the Capital Region annually in their heyday of the 1970s.
A devoted husband and father, Chuck especially enjoyed people, the car business and telling stories of his childhood in Albany. He is survived by his children, Laurie, Lisa (Reichelt) of Colonie, NY, and Charles Jr. of Spencertown, NY, his brother Alfonse of Poughkeepsie, NY, and grandchildren Veronica Reichelt, and Brandon, Jessica, Katelyn and Marisa Weinlein, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours are 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, Feb 19, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155, south of Central Ave).
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 20,2016 at Historic St. Mary's Church on Capitol Hill, 10 Lodge Street, Albany, NY 12207. All are welcome.
