Charles L. Anderson, Iii

COLONIE – Charles L. Anderson III, 63, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011. Born in Albany he was the son of the late Charles L. Anderson Jr. and Irene L. Anderson. He resided in Colonie for most of his life. Charles served his country from 1967 through 1971 as a Sergeant in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. After active duty, he was in the Air Force reserves for twenty years. He worked on C130 planes as an aircraft technician at the Stratton Air National Guard 109th. Charles enjoyed playing the drums with the family band, Memphis Four and working on cars. He was a coach for ten years with Colonie Little League and a Cub Scout leader for Pack 77. Charles is the beloved husband of nearly 41 years to Ruth Ann Anderson. He is the devoted father of Charles L. (Jami) Anderson IV, Brian Scott Anderson and Kevin Darrell Anderson and stepfather of Leigh Ann (Michael) Downey. Charles is the loving brother of Richard T. (Donna) Anderson and Sarah Ann LaDuke. He is the cherished grandfather of Justin, Austin, Haleigha, Tyler and Matt. Also surviving is his uncle, Robert (Mary) Anderson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
