Schenectady- Charles L. Childers, Jr. passed away on November 8, 2015 at Ellis Hospital. He was 81 years old.
The son of the late Charles L. and Marion (Losee) Childers, Sr. Charles was born on November 25, 1933 in Freeport, Long Island, NY.
Charles served his country in the US Navy from 1953 to 1957 aboard the USS Kirkpatrick. He worked for 25 years for the NYS Department of Education until his retirement in 1994.
Charles was an avid Boston Celtics fan, his favorite player was Larry Bird. He loved to dance and bowl. He always had music playing. Charles enjoyed going to the casino and liked to test his luck with scratch offs.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Linda (Planz) Childers; his children: Michelle (Scott) Hines, Thomas Planz, Deborah (Jerry) Lutz, Henrietta (Rob) Seaburg and Harold (Christine) LeMay; his 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his wife Rita; two sons: Frank and Charles "Little Chuck"; one brother and three sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Graceland Cemetery, Delmar.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Charles name to the American Heart Association, 4 Atrium Drive, Suite 100, Albany, NY 12205.
