Charles R. Levesque

November 23, 1926 — October 30, 2024

Albany

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Richard Levesque after a long and well lived life. On October 30, 2024 he completed his journey on earth, entered heaven and touched the face of God.

Charles, better known as Charlie or Dick was born November 23rd, 1926. He was the son of Dennis and Katherine (Dittmer) Levesque. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of nearly 64 years, Elaine (Leitch), and his beloved son, Richard.

He will be forever treasured by his daughter Tammy, son-in-law Rick, daughter-in-law Michelle, grandson Matthew, brother John and many nieces and nephews.

Charlie had a smile that could light up a room. He was known for his legendary bear hugs as well as his green thumb that he was blessed with and used to tend to both his vegetable and flower gardens. These gardens were envied by those who lived in his neighborhood. He was a kind and wonderful person who touched many lives. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his gentle spirit, his kind and generous nature, and his deep faith which was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Charlie proudly served his country during WWII in the Navy aboard the USS Teton, where he saw action in the Pacific Theater. For many years, he worked at McKinney Steel Co. in Albany as a master welder.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Friday, November 8, at New Comer Funeral Home from 3 to 6 pm. The funeral service will be Saturday, November 9, at 9:30am Our Savior's Lutheran Church 63 Mountain View Ave. Interment immediately following in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Colonie.

If you so choose, in his memory, you can donate to the Capital District Patriot Flight, Inc., which sponsors trips honoring our military veterans. This brought him great joy and new friendships in his later years (PO Box 13776, Albany NY 12212)
