ALBANY - Charles M. Lipscomb Sr., 70 of Albany, NY passed away at home Tuesday, October 13, 2020, in the company of his loving wife of over forty years. Charles was born in Danville, Virginia on December 30, 1949, son of the late James M. and Annie O. Lipscomb.
Charles retired from SUNY Albany as a bus driver where he was well liked and respected on campus. Charles was a protective husband, devoted father, committed grandfather and exceptional friend. His love, passion and dedication to his family is his biggest legacy.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Velma Lipscomb, their three sons Robert Lipscomb, Charles (Viola) Lipscomb jr. and Keon Lipscomb; 8 grandsons Rehjour Lipscomb, Keon Lipscomb, Kelijah Lipscomb, Elton Williams, Kameron Johnson, Keonvion Lipscomb, Charles Lipscomb III, and Chandler Lipscomb; a granddaughter-in-law; one great-grandson Kaleb Lipscomb and two great-granddaughters-in-law. He is also survived by his sister Thomasine (Albany), her two children Kyle and Ashanti; three sisters-in-law Johnnie Mae Harrison, Mary Ayers and Shelly Harrison; a host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends as well as his trusty four-legged Rottweiler companion Rocky. He is predeceased by his parents, three brothers-in-law Robert Ayers, John Harrison and Edward Harrison, four sisters-in-law Ethel Harrison, Donna Harrison, Annie Jones and Patricia Harrison in addition to his previous beloved Rottweiler companion, Sassy.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 10am to 12pm at Newcomer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, NY 12205 with services immediately following at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
