ORMOND BEACH, FL. – Charles J. Marto Sr., 77 of Ormond Beach, FL, formerly of Albany, passed away on Saturday September 3, 2005 after a brief illness.
He was born in New York City and was the son of the late Martin and Gertrude Carroll Marto. Charlie was an automobile salesman for over thirty years throughout the city of Albany. Along with his wife Peg, they owned and operated the Red Baron Tavern on Lake Onderdonk in the town of Westerlo for several years. He and Peg have since resided in Florida for over twenty years.
Charlie is the beloved husband of 51 years to Margaret Reilly Marto. He is the devoted father of Charles Marto Jr., Marge Wigger, Thomas Marto, Maureen Marto, Edward Marto, James Marto and Michelle Marto. He is also survived by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 8:15 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to Christ the King Church at 9:00 at Christ the King Church, Westmere where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather at 4:30pm for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, and at the request of the family, memorial contributions are suggested to Catholic Charities, 40 N. Main Street Albany NY 12203-1422.
