Guilderland – Charles Orth Desch, 85, passed away suddenly on January 7, 2016 . Charles was born in Albany, New York. He was the son of Charles Henry Desch and Ida Orth Desch.
Charles was a 1948 graduate of Philip Schuyler High School. In May 1949, he married Viola May Bathrick of Tivoli, New York. He was a self-employed excavating contractor for over sixty-five years and a longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 106. His greatest passions in life were his wife Viola, his family, his friends and his work.
Survivors include his loving wife Viola and three of his four children – Carol Ann Desch (Paul Silverstein), Lyn Marie Desch-Lawton, and Kenneth Charles Desch (Dolores) and his brother Noel Desch (Janet). He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth C. Desch (Adeline), his sister Carolyn Silvernail (John) and his son Charles Henry Desch, II (Monica).
Charles was very proud of his six grandsons: Justin P. Lawton, Brandon C. Lawton Kevin C. Desch, Paul V. Lawton,III , Kyle D. Lawton and Sean M. Desch. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday January 10 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
