CHARLTON – Charles R. Purcell, 63, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013 with his wife and family by his side. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Walter R. and Lilivene Purcell. Chuck was the first courier for Federal Express in Albany where he worked for twenty-five years. He was a charter member of the Elks Lodge #2759 in Scotia Glenville and a former member of the Charlton Snowmobile Club. Chuck loved to sing and play guitar. As a young boy he appeared on the television show, "Teenage Barn". He was a master at story-telling and jokes. He enjoyed camping and was an avid fisherman.
Chuck is the beloved husband of nearly fifteen years to Patricia A. (Coloff) Purcell. He is the devoted father of Charles R. "Chach" Purcell and his wife, Serina of Chesapeake, VA. Chuck is the loving brother of Jean A. Purcell of Brunswick and the late Suzanne V., Richard L. and Walter E. Purcell. He is the brother-in-law of Miriam Purcell of Brunswick. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren, Charles R. III, Seth P., Jonathan A. and Noah M. Purcell and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 in memory of Charles R. Purcell.
