Charles J. Renus

Charles Joseph Renus Jr - 88 was born on October 14, 1933 in Amsterdam, NY. He was the son of the late Charles J. Renus Sr. and Mary (Iwider) Renus. "Chuck" "The Pope" (as he was known to his friends and family) served in the United States Air Force in the Korean War, and was a self-employed contractor for Verizon (NY Tel) for many years. Chuck's life's devotion was to the love of his life, his wife Eleanor and their 3 children. In Chuck's spare time he enjoyed many activities including bowling, darts, golfing, or spending time with friends at the Elks where Chuck's a life member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge #2157. His personality was effervescent; he would light up the room or would be the life of the party, amongst his caring, giving side. Chuck was known for always helping friends or family in need. If you knew Chuck you became his friend however, you'd better stay on your toes with his jokes, quick wit and humor as he loved to make people smile and laugh.

Left to cherish his memory his beloved bride of 64 years Eleanor (Bednarczyk) Renus, his children Michael (Christine) Renus, Kelly (Anthony) LaRue and Michelle Hines (Ray Bronk); grandfather of Michael Jr, Rebecca, Tyler, Christopher, Justin and Brandon, and great grandfather to Porter and Cole. Other survivors include his brother Richard (Vivian) Renus along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert Renus and sisters Marion Olsen, and Diana Pahl.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Thursday March 24, 2022 from 9:00am -10:00am with Interment to follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
