Charles Bloomfield Russell, Jr.

ALTAMONT - Charles B. Russell Jr., 79, husband of Nedra Russell of Altamont, NY passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at St. Peter's Hospital.

Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy Russell. Charlie attended Greenwich High School and while there, he lettered in five sports, and threw a tremendous curve ball due to his double jointed thumb.

Following high school, he then served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He graduated from SUNY Albany where he met his wife of 56 years. He later worked as a systems analyst for many years in Syracuse, NY.

He loved to spend time with his family and was known for giving the shirt off his back to anyone. He was also well known for his positive attitude during tough times. Charlie was an avid golfer and won the Men's League Championship at Skaneateles Country Club one year. Charlie and Nedra lived in beautiful Skaneateles, NY and loved spending time fixing up their old farm house and barn.

Charlie and the love of his life Nedra traveled the US and the world together visiting numerous countries.

He is survived by son Eric of Syracuse, NY and his girlfriend Alison Lynch, his daughter Nora Giglio and her husband Tom: 3 grandchildren, Mia (17), Jack (16) and Elise (12). He is also survived by his sister Nancy of Tappan, NY: her sons Alex and his partner Marina and Chris and his wife Mallory. Friends may call Friday, April 7th from 1-3 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 3pm. Donations can
be made to the Altamont Public Library.
