Charles S. Victor

February 3, 1952 — December 27, 2022

On December 27, 2022, Charles Seigfred Victor (70) passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with liver cancer surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Originally from Corentyne Berbice, Guyana, Charles was born on February 3, 1952. He is the fifth of ten children born to the late Charlotte (Providence) and Thomas Victor.

Charles possessed a love of learning that led him to his first job as a primary school teacher. However, he discovered his true calling after graduating from the New Amsterdam School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1978. While studying nursing, he met and married his wife of 43 year, Ruth Forster. After completion of his RN degree, he decided to further his education and continued his studies in Midwifery. This knowledge gave him the opportunity to deliver three of his four children. Charles brought life into the world – delivering hundreds of babies in homes, hospitals, and the underserved areas of Guyana. While his children were still young, he returned to his pursuit of knowledge successfully completing the MedEx program – the equivalent of a Physician's Assistant.

He is survived and missed by his loving wife Ruth and his children Shaun, Sharwin (TaKarra), Shurlan and Shanamae (Segun); his three grandchildren Tamyra, Ethan and Luke Victor; his beloved siblings and their families: Patricia Richmond, Timothy Victor (Manelle), Carlos Victor, Allan Victor (Yvonne), Ann Ross (Allan), Godfrey Sancho, Elvis Victor (Roxanne), Donna Victor, Otis Victor (Michell); foster children Seon, Sena, Jude, and Vanessa; foster grandchildren Destiny, Nia, Jacion and Jaden from Nurney Village and Troy Moseley of Limlair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his eldest brother Patrick Victor Sr.

Affectionately known as "Uncle Fred", Uncle Charles", "Uncle Charlie" or "Charlie-boy", his memory lives on to a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, and extended church family; both in the United States and Guyana. Uncle Charlie touched the lives of so many through his years and will forever be missed.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4: 7 - 8
