Charles Welcome

Charles (Akbar aka Chuckie) Welcome of Albany, NY entered eternal rest on September 17, 2024. Ak, as he loved to be called, was born on October 28, 1952 in Albany, NY to Ida Belle and Edward Welcome Sr. Throughout his younger years, Charles attended Albany school district. During these years, he also received certificates of completion for paralegal in November of 1989. He received his diploma to be a paralegal specialist in 1990. As well as he received a certification of training with the Alternative to Violence Project, Inc. In 1993. Charles enjoyed cooking, playing chess, scrabble and many different card games. He loved cracking jokes and making people laugh. 

Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory his lovely daughters; Mecca Welcome and Dawn Scott, brothers; Percy (Helen) Webb of Memphis, TN Edward Welcome Jr., John (Patricia) Welcome, Michael (Regina) Welcome, sisters; Jo Ann Welcome and Sharon Welcome-Gomez, grandchildren; Quinaisia Quattlebaum, D'amonte Welcome, Ishaya Dowling and Accem Evans, great-grandchildren; Makhi & Jada Quattlebaum and Kartiei Rainey, long-time friend Linda Scott and Cindy (blue eyes) and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Charles is predeceased by his parents Ida Belle and Edward Welcome Sr., his brothers James Presley and William Welcome along with his granddaughter Monya Mcdaniels. Charles will be sorely missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 10:00am - 11:00 am, with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, 680 Delaware Ave, Albany, NY 12209.
