ALBANY, NY – Charles H. Wilsey, known to all as "Chuck" or "Junior" or "Uncle Chuck", passed away on July 19, 2023 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Chuck was born on December 19, 1945, in Albany, NY, and served as a proud Marine during the Vietnam War, from November 28, 1967 to April 2, 1971, attaining the rank of Sergeant in record time.
He then had a 37 year career as a home improvement salesman – a salesman extraordinaire for sure – often it was said that 'he could sell snow to an Eskimo'.
During his early adulthood he would take his family to his best friend, Tom Mulderry's camp, where their families would enjoy many weekends of camping and swimming.
Chuck was an avid gardener, bird watcher and lover of all animals, with a special affinity for cats, both large and small.
He loved to go for a weekly motorcycle ride with his long-time friend, Mark Rockwell, into the Schoharie valley – his favorite place to ride.
Chuck was loyal to a fault, and could be counted on to defend those he loved to the last breath.
He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Wilsey of Colonie, NY; son, Charles W. Wilsey (Lynn) of Summerfield, FL; daughter, Karen Wilsey of Salem, NY; brother, Donald Wilsey (Marie) of Clifton Park, NY; brother, Howard Wilsey of Troy, NY; grandchildren: Alicia, Desiree and Ryan, as well as several brothers and sisters in-law.
Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Charles Wilsey of Albany, NY and Harriet Sager Wilsey LaMountain of Albany, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY on Monday July 24, 2023 from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., with a funeral service following at 11:15 a.m. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. with full military honors at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
