SCHENECTADY- Charlotte B. Hoyt, 61, of Schenectady, passed away on Tuesday January 1, 2008 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Stockbridge, MA and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Beatrice Barboza.
Charlotte has worked at Mt Pleasant High School and Schenectady High School for 23 years. She was assistant track coach and active in many school functions and athletic events. Charlotte enjoyed baking, especially her zucchini bread and chocolate chip cookies. She was an avid reader, bowler, and crossword puzzle enthusiast. Charlotte was always ready to help others without hesitation. As a youngster, Charlotte and her family were pictured on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post. She had been a longtime active member of several Drum & Bugle Corps. Charlotte was very proud of her children's success and smiled at the joy her grandchildren brought to her.
She is the beloved mother of Mary Hoyt Romanowski of Marietta, GA and Bill Hoyt IV of Houston, TX. She is the cherished grandmother of Jaylee Romanowski, Garrison and Braedon Hoyt. She is the sister of Mary Roman and Fred Barboza. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 5 to 7 pm at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A service of remembrance will be celebrated at 7:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Stockbridge, MA.
