Charlotte Elaine Thomas

After a long illness while in the loving care of her husband, Charlotte "Elaine" Thomas accepted victory on August 31, 2017. Elaine was born on July 25,1952 in Lynchburgh, VA.
She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at an early age at Scott Zion Baptist Church in Madison Heights, VA. She was an active member of the Usher Ministry, Choir and Sunday School. After graduating Amerherst County High School in Amherst, VA, Elaine relocated to Troy, NY and obtained her Associates Degree from Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, NY.

On June 28, 1977, Elaine was joined in marriage to her soul mate, Roosevelt "Bill" Thomas and the color "RED." They attended 5th Avenue AME Zion Church and Elaine soon became a member. Elaine was a faithful member of the Choir, Trustee Board, and served as the Church Clerk for more than a decade. Her church family held a special place in her heart. She was employed by Matthew Bender/Lexus Nexus for over 40 years and retired when she became ill.

Elaine will be missed by all who knew her. She loved people and will be remembered by many for being a supportive listener who gave solid advice. She was soft spoken and kind, with a laugh that was contagious.

Thomas, Troy, NY, Monique(Lamont)Emery, Troy, NY and step-daughter, Shawn(Leon)Wilson, Glen Burnie, MD; sister, Esther(Theodore) Holland, Madison Heights, VA; brother, Russell Allen, Atlanta, GA; Grandchildren, Chania J. Holt, Shane A. Burns, Lamoni , Lauriel and Lailah Emery, Troy, NY; Shaidikia(Chyrome) DeVaughn, Baltimore, MD and Keara Wilson of Glen Bernie, MD.

She also leaves to love and cherish her memory her brother and sister in laws; William (Daisy) Thomas, Troy, NY, John(Josephine) Thomas, Greeleyville, SC, and Phyllis Thomas, Greeleyville, SC; a host of godchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whose lives she has touched.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice Allen, Eugene Allen, and Glover Wright; Grandparents, Norvell and Beatrice Evans; mother in law, Mary Anne Thomas; Father in Law, William Thomas and special friend, Betty Simon; Brother and Sister in Laws, Lourie(Alvin) Hilton, Flora Bell(Neace) Canty, Mae- Frances ( Sylvester) Harrison, Robert(Alberta) Thomas, Eddie(Mabel) Gamble and Tommie Thomas.
