Chauncey H. Laross

MALTA – Chauncey (Cy) H. LaRoss, 85, formerly of Malta, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Wesley Health Care Center after an extended illness. He was born in Philadelphia, PA and was the son of the late Stanley and Mary Agnes LaRoss.
Chauncey served in the Army-Air Force during WWII He began his career at the Watervliet Arsenal in 1955 as an apprentice and retired in 1987 as an Industrial Engineering Technician. Chauncey enjoyed golf and was proud of his hole in one accomplishment. He was a charitable and generous man that supported children's charities and helped those in need for many years. Chauncey was a man of prayer and faithfully studied the bible.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dorothy Gould LaRoss. He is the devoted father of Mary Grace (Joe) Golinski, Nancy (Tom) Bickert, Diane (Will) Blanchard, Jeffrey (Beckey) LaRoss and the late Robert and John LaRoss. Cy is the brother of Anna Mae Apice, John (Helen) LaRoss, Robert (Ellie) LaRoss and the late Dorothy Szymczak. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10:30 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9:30 am to 10:30 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Saratoga National VA Cemetery. In keeping with Chauncey's giving spirit, memorial contributions are suggested to Greater Grace Community Church, 315 Ushers Rd. Ballston Lake, NY 12019.
