SELKIRK – Cheryl Ann Mahar, 66, passed away surrounded by her loved ones at St. Peter's Hospice Inn on March 17, 2013 after a long illness. She was born in Albany on June 11, 1946 to the late Barbara and Andrew Reid.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Charles J. Mahar; daughter Judith (Tom) Demarco; son Michael (Heather) Mahar; grandchildren Stephanie Deso and Tyler, Jacob, Josh, Joey and James Demarco; sisters Dianne Meier, Linda Raedemaker, and brother Tom Reid.
Cheryl was employed at McKesson Drug Company for 24 years and retired from Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield after 15 years. She loved vacationing any place by the ocean and visiting lighthouses. Cheryl organized many fundraisers for the Humane Society through her workplace. She also loved spending time with her family.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's for Cheryl's wonderful care. A special thank you also to Pulmonary and Critical Care staff, especially Dr. John Mesch , Dr. Anthony Cagino and caring nurse, Dawn.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 12:30 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
