Chester P. "Chet" June, 80, of Latham, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022, after a brief illness.
Chet was born on March 25th, 1942, to Geraldine and Chester G. June in Albany, NY. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy (CBA), where he was a member of the prestigious JROTC Wansboro Rifles Drill Team. After graduation, Chet served in the United States Army as a Private First Class (PFC), he was a Vietnam Era Vet and served in Germany as a Morse Code Specialist. Chet went on to work for New York State, where he retired from the NYS Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) in 1997, after 37 ½ years of state service.
Chet enjoyed bowling, going to Saratoga in August with his parents and family to play the horses, playing poker and many trips to Las Vegas with family & friends. More recently, he truly enjoyed spoiling his granddaughter Morgan, the apple of his eye, whenever he had the chance. Chet was a kind and generous man with a big heart, and he lived life on his own terms. Above all, his family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was the most loving and supportive dad and grandpa a family could ask for. He was well loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Chet was predeceased by his parents, Geraldine & Chester, his sister Gerriann, Step-Daughter Suzanne Kaelin, and his Aunt Elaine & Uncle Jack Murray. Chet is survived by his brother Robert June, his son Ricky James June, his granddaughter Morgan Elizabeth June, his former spouse Kathleen Paluba, his nephew Bobby (Deana) June, nieces Shelly (Michele) June and Karen (Dan) Heath, and beloved cousins Sherrie (Nels) Peat, Guy Murray and his Goddaughter Kathi (Dave) Hunt.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Samaritan Hospital ICU, who provided kind and compassionate care to Chet and his family.
