Chester Matott

December 18, 1932 — October 17, 2014

COLONIE - 81, passed away peacefully in the arms of his daughter, on Friday Oct. 17, 2014. Born in Mooers, NY, he was the son of the late William and Della (Belrose) Matott. Husband to the late Helen (Volinsky) Matott. Beloved father of Brenda Ingleston, Connie Matott, Chester Jr., and Raymond Foster; 8 grand-children and 6 great grand-children. He is survived by sister Gloria McGee of Rochester and brother Orville Matott of West Chazy, NY. Predeceased by siblings William Matott, Genevieve Hemingway, and Edward Mottott.

Chet had been a single father since the loss of his wife in 1981. Although he struggled through some tough times, he always wore a brave heart and a smile on his face. He worked hard all his life, which began as a boy growing up on a farm then worked for several antique auctioneers as a truck driver and mover. He would tell you that his children were his "pride and joy". His simple pleasures were being outdoors soaking up the sun, gardening and road trips with his brother Orville. He had a passion for helping others and continued to do so right into his final days being a resident of Teresian House Center for the Elderly, where he will be dearly missed by many!

A funeral mass will be held at St. Clare's Church 1947 Central Avenue Albany, NY 12205 on Thursday Oct. 23,2014 at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org
