Albany- Christine Davis, 89, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017, after two years of the most tender, attentive, warm, and loving care by the wonderful staff of Carmel Gardens at the Teresian House. She was the life long partner of Gordon Davis for the past 68 years. Chris was a great Mom to her children: Shelley, Pamela, and Andy, and took great pleasure in them, their partners and in her four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Forrest, who has been a rock of support to her and like a brother to Gordon.
Chris was a great cook and an avid reader. She worked many years as a librarian. Chris was a competitive (oh boy!) tennis player, and she loved to swim (always the backstroke). Gordon would do life guard duty from the dock while she swam laps in the bay at their cabin in the Adirondacks. Chris was always busy and liked traveling and gardening. She walked three miles a day into her 80's. She was an active supporter of PEO.
Her faith was important to her and she was a devoted member of the Bethany Reformed Church. Education was also important to Chris. She was valedictorian of her high school class and went back to college in her 40's to earn her Bachelor's degree.
Gordon and Chris have been inseparable all their lives, and he will miss her dearly. They have been committed to each other without fail, and Gordon's love, devotion, and care through her late illness have sustained her and kept her strong. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Chris to the Teresian House at: 200 Washington Ave. Extension, Albany, NY, 12203 or to the Bethany Reformed Church at: 760 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY, 12208
A celebration of life service will be held at Bethany Reformed Church, on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1:00 pm. The burial will take place privately by the family prior to services at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
