NORTH GREENBUSH - Christine Marie Charton, 50, of North Greenbush, passed away June 5, 2012, in the comforting presence of her family, having lived every day for many years to the best of her ability fighting tenaciously against the disease of diabetes.
Chris was born July 21, 1961, at Bellevue Hospital in Niskayuna, the first born daughter of Thomas and Carol Charton of Colonie. She graduated from Colonie Central in 1979, and later from Maria College. In her career as a Registered Nurse, Chris helped many lives at the Atria Shaker, St. Peter's Hospital Med/Surg unit, and most recently Wellpoint in Albany. It was her nature to be kind, compassionate, selfless and loving, and she will be missed by all who are blessed to have known her.
Chris has always had a fierce commitment to her family, which was returned to her ten-fold. In addition to her parents, Chris is survived by her loving wife Janice Catel-Charton of North Greenbush; sisters Melissa (Tim) Wierzbicki of Rotterdam, Lori (Dan) Fitzsimmons of Delmar, and Shelley (Mike) Plaske of Albany; brothers Matthew (Carissa) and Charles Charton, both of Albany; nieces Meghan, Emily, Erin and Madeline; nephews Justin (Kate), Johnathon, Thomas, Kyle, Devin, Patrick and Nathan; aunts and uncles Joan and Bill Lockhart, John and Henrietta Charton, Tom and Penny Curcio, Laura and David Sanborn, Diane Raymer, and Charlotte and the late Joseph Silvestri. She is also survived by many cousins and dear and devoted friends.
Her family wishes to acknowledge with appreciation the staff of Albany Medical Center Hospital's CCU, especially her nurses Jill, Marcel, Ginny, Judy and Kristin. From one excellent nurse to another, Chris appreciated your skill, kindness to herself and her family, and mercy when it was needed.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY. A memorial celebration of Chris' life will immediately follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
