Christine Moaton

October 1, 1928 — January 29, 2023

Guilderland, New York- Christine Moaton, 94, of The Grand of Guilderland, Guilderland, New York followed her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ straight into glory on January 29, 2023. She was born on October 1st, 1928 in Buckingham County, Virginia to the late Samuel Lyle and Harriet Mosely Lyle of Farmville, Virginia. Christine graduated from Morton High School in Farmville, Virginia. Afternoon graduation she met and married James Aaron Watkins. From that union a daughter was born, Beverly Yvonne. Christine moved to Passaic, New Jersey with her daughter, where she was a factory worker for several years. She then moved to Albany, New York to be closer to her sister. After moving to Albany, Christine remarried, having a son from that union, Daniel LeRoy. Christine worked as a domestic and worked for Roxy cleaners, while pursuing her cosmetology license. Christine's last employment was as a civil servant with the Department of State. She retired from New York State employment 28+ years of service. After she retired, she enjoyed volunteering with the Beltrone Senior Center until her health failed. Christine also enjoyed fishing, tending to her house plants, and her yard. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener. Christine was affectionately known as the "bag lady" as she collected bottles and cans during her daily walks.

Christine became a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church about 1970 when her previous home church, Temple Baptist, closed down its earthly ministry. Emanuel has been blessed by her presence and participation for more than fifty years.

Christine was predeceased by her parents, Samuel Lyle and Harriet Mosely Lyle, her brothers, Joseph (Frankie Bee) Lyle, Anthony (Ana Belle) Lyle, and Harriet Watson (Alvin, deceased).

Christine is survived by her children, Beverly (Willie Jr.) Johnson, Daniel (Kym Cockfield) Moaton, Grandchildren: Corey Johnson, Jason Moaton, and Brandi Cockfield, and three (3) great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, Yama Phillips, special niece, Catherine Patterson, and nephew Augustus (Dubby)Watson lll. She is also survived by a host of other family members, extended Family and friends.
