Christine Suruda

COLONIE - Christine Suruda, 70, of Colonie, New York passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 at Albany Medical Center.

Born July 22, 1952, in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Francis Makowski and Cecilia Wlodynski.

Christine attended Dickinson High School in Jersey City, New Jersey, received her Associate's Degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, and her Bachelor's Degree from Empire State College in Albany, New York.

Christine worked as a school librarian, teacher, and administrative professional. As a Reiki Master Teacher & Practitioner, Christine dedicated her life to healing others, often giving Reiki treatments to friends and family members in need, including animals, such as dogs, horses, and elephants. Christine was a Tai Chi instructor, specializing in Tai Chi for senior citizens and those with arthritis. She was extremely creative and an avid crafter, hand-making jewelry, handbags, clothes, and items made out of stained glass, such as lamps, tables, and wall-hangings.

She is survived by her son, Phillip, of Albany, New York. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and a celebration of life to immediately follow at 2:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Christine was full of sunshine and love, and it was her strong belief that the period after a person's death should be filled with joy, laughter, and a celebration of life.
